
ONE ACT PLAYS
Local scriptwriters were invited to submit scripts (20–45 minutes)
for our second One Act Play Festival, "Fate and Destiny".
Nine scripts were submitted for consideration, and a panel was formed of members who were not playwrights, who had nominated a play, to assess each script.
The four successful plays are as follows and each play now has a director or directors as indicated below:
A Way With Words
A comedy about what goes on behind the scenes of a local theatre group.

The story of a young angel trying to find her way among the bullies and expectations.

The Shirker
As WWI rages in Europe an 18 year old Australian lad wants to be a conscientious objector after seeing what the war has done to his brother.

The Unluckiest Man In The World
A man walks to the end of the earth to find out why he is unlucky. But is he?

Our first production team meeting was held on Thursday 7th May where playwrights, directors and subcommittee members met and discussed future planning and the upcoming information session and auditions.
Our information session was held on Saturday May 9th where each writer or director spoke about their play and those attending had an opportunity to ask questions and to put their names down for auditions.
Auditions were held on Saturday May 16th & Sunday May 17th at Toad Hall. Successful auditionees were offered roles on Monday May 18th with second round offers on May 20th.
