The Wizard of Oz a success

The joint WTC and HA production of The Wizard of Oz swept into the Lighthouse Theatre from 15-22 July 2023. A cast of 51 and an orchestra of 23 performed 7 shows of this feel good musical to wide acclaim. The Stage Whispers review called it "the best show they'd seen on a Warrnambool stage" and "a piece of community theatre in a regional city that compares to the bigger budget, semi-professional shows that Melbourne produces". We thank Holiday Actors for partnering with us for a third production, the Warrnambool City Band and Warrnambool Symphony Orchestra for lending their exceptional musicians that formed the Wizard of Oz orchestra and our superb crew and cast.

Wizard of Oz Information Day

Come along to the Lighthouse Theatre on 19 Feb 2023 from 1-3pm to hear all about the WTC and HA production of The Wizard of Oz, coming to Warrnambool in July 2023. At the Information Day, attendees will find out about the style of the show, rehearsal schedule, how to audition and how to be part of the production team. Prospective cast will be taught the song and choreography for the audition.

HA & WTC were informed on Thursday 9th Dec 2021 in the late afternoon that a member of the company had tested positive to Covid. The companies would like to praise the cast member for notifying us so quickly. The companies have very comprehensive Covid plans in place and have reacted swiftly to ensure everyone who was at Sunday's 5th Dec 2021 rehearsal was able to isolate immediately. The health and well-being of our cast and community remains at the forefront of all our plans. We wish the cast member a speedy and quick recovery and once again commend them for their actions.

Masterclass: Audition Technique success

The first of a four part series of masterclasses in theatre skills was delivered by WTC on Sunday 2nd May 2021. Acting expert Dan Haberfield and vocal expert Leah Oswin worked with 50 participants to hone audition skills. Key learnings included 'channel nerves into positive energy' and to 'not take it personally if you don't get selected; reflect then wipe the slate and let go of it all'. Congratulations to all participants who arrived ready to learn and thank you to our experts, Dan and Leah, The Lighthouse Theatre, Regional Arts Victoria and South West Community Foundation. We look forward to the next masterclass.

Change of venue for CATS Info Day

We apologise for any inconvenience, but due to COVID space restrictions, we have had to make a last-minute change of venue for our upcoming Information and Audition Workshop day.

This event will now be held at The Lighthouse Theatre, at the same time as previously advertised – Saturday May 8th from 2pm – 4pm.

WTC's production of the Crucible cancelled

It is with heavy hearts that the Committee has cancelled WTC's production of The Crucible, which was originally intended for 2020. The unpredictability of Covid19 and changed responsibilities in the Directorial team mean that the production is not possible in 2021. The Committee thanks the cast and production crew who joined us in 2020 for their enthusiasm and hope that you will all return for future productions with WTC.

Back by popular demand: Script Writing Challenge #2

The first challenge was so well received that we are once again creatively connecting during Covid19. All welcome to take part - Aug - Sep 2020.
